Visual of new website design for Long Acre Advisory
Claire took the time to understand the brief, came up with a number of options (all of which were good, so it was hard to choose). My content was text-heavy, and Claire was creative at coming up with infographics to help convey the message in a more user-friendly way. She was really patient throughout the whole process and the handover to ensure I was confident about managing the website going forward (especially important as my tech skills are close to non-existent!).

Client

Lisa McNulty is a business strategist who uses a scientific approach to drive change in organisations. She has almost 30 years’ experience working globally with teams in different markets and cultures. Before founding Long Acre Advisory, she was Partner and Vice Chair of Deloitte LLP.

Lisa has formed the Business Catalyst Programme, a science-based approach that helps teams devise and execute a winning strategy together. The programme is tailored to each team and provides independent support to CEOs and leadership teams who want to solve problems and develop robust future strategies.

I got involved with this project through Gerri Hanson, who I met in Doing it for the Kids. Gerri is a brand experience and marketing consultant and had been working with Lisa to set up Long Acre Advisory. She brought me in to help improve the visual branding of the business and produce a new website.

Brief

Lisa had an existing website in place with some brand colours and a logo. Through the work she’d done with Gerri she recognised she needed to take her visual brand identity to the next level to better connect with her ideal clients.

She opted for my Getting Started brand package (which includes a logo, font and brand colours) alongside a new Squarespace website.

Moodboard for Long Acre Advisory branding

Creative

Gerri and I held a discovery session with Lisa to get a better sense of the work she does and her key audience. I then took this information away and produced some mood boards to ensure I had the right initial feel for the business.

We also finalised the sitemap for the website and Gerri got to work refining the content. [SB1]

The next stage was for me to create two different design route options for Lisa. Both included a logo and website mock-ups. Lisa chose a traditional design built around a modern, geometric style. The logo uses the business initials LAA to suggest a graph showing growth and has a simple, yet trustworthy feel.

I worked with Lisa on the colour scheme to make sure she was happy with the full palette and then I moved on to designing the new website in Squarespace.

There is a lot of information to convey on the pages of the website outlining Lisa’s approach and the science. I worked on creating graphics to complement the existing content to make it easier for website visitors to quickly understand how Lisa works.

As well as the final website, I delivered Lisa a brand toolkit which included her new logo, graphic files and a one-page brand board she can reference for core font and colour information.

At the handover point I provided Lisa with a recorded tutorial of the Squarespace backend. This left her happy and confident in how to work with her own website and edit it according to her needs moving forward. This is the beauty of designing Squarespace websites for clients – once the sites are handed over, the businesses have full control over them.

Impact

Lisa now has a brand identity in place that aligns with her vision for the business. With her new, levelled up website she can continue to build on the success of Long Acre Advisory and reach more of her ideal clients.

We had an outdated website and a basic brand palette which needed an overhaul to present our business offering more professionally. Gerri guided me through the entire process and brought in Claire to support with the website and brand design. They took the time to understand the ‘personality’ of our business; they were imaginative in delivery and very proactive in managing the overall process. Gerri and Claire make a great team and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them for brand and website projects.
