“Claire has an expertise in what she does, and she makes it fun and easy. She created a beautiful logo that represents who I am and how I work. Claire fully captured my essence which is my brand. ”
Client
Kish Modasia is a holistic wellbeing coach who helps busy, overloaded professionals and parents to prevent burnout and create a healthy work/life balance. Her focus is on bringing calm amidst the chaos.
I have known Kish for a number of years through the Athena network. She was looking to redo her existing Squarespace website and came to me for guidance.
Brief
The original brief was for a new website but it soon became clear that a rebrand would also be required to ensure the look and feel of the site delivered what Kish was looking for. Kish had coached individuals in a corporate environment for many years but was in the process of working with a coach herself to refine her offering. Once the new ideal audience of busy professionals and parents had been identified we could start moving forward with purpose.
The new branding needed to reflect Kish’s calm and her expertise and needed to include a logo and favicon as well as a programme diagram for Kish’s mindfulness course, illustrating the themes covered using icons and with a colour palette reflecting the chakra colours.
The website itself also needed to be simpler and less corporate with fewer pages and copy and visuals that allowed Kish’s calm yet strong personality to shine through. It also needed to act as a portal to her online course as well as linking up with her newsletter and scheduler software.
Kish was keen to partner with a copywriter, so I enlisted Jude Faultless to work on the project alongside me.
Creative
The first step was a discovery meeting between Kish, Jude and myself to get to know Kish and her business better. It was great to hear the story of her journey from computer programmer at BT where she was the first person to work from home to being a coach with a strong emphasis on mindfulness.
The previous logo felt cold and slightly nautical thanks to the use of an anchor shape. For the updated identity I took an abstract approach, using petals to form both the logo and the programme diagram, ensuring the visual identity was consistent across the branding. The use of fine lines and clean curves gave a flowing yet calm impression, in keeping with Kish’s meditation style.
Kish often emphasises the importance of stopping for just a minute and taking a breath. The circle of dots within the programme diagram represents the idea of time and the spiral pattern expanding from the logo petals plays with the concept of the expansion and contraction that take place when we breathe.
The font is Museo which I chose for its simplicity and the way its gentle flourishes speak to breath and meditation work.
Kish herself is the main draw for potential clients and so photography was key for the new site. Annie Armitage did a fantastic job capturing wonderful, bright photos of Kish in a variety of settings and I used these throughout the layout.
Kish wanted to use chakra colours and I balanced this approach with adding some key colours to differentiate Lead Your Life from brands with a similar approach. The cyan blue and purple give a professional yet warm tone and represent Kish’s own personality and style. The remaining chakra colours form a secondary palette for use in the programme diagram.
I produced the website in Squarespace (which Kish had previously used). I worked with Jude to produce a clean, easy-to-use site with well-spaced content structured for easy reading. The overall impression of the content is one of calm, encouraging people to follow Kish’s advice and take a moment to breathe.
Impact
The finished website is bold and reflects Kish’s values and practices. On a functional level it also integrates perfectly with her online course, newsletter and calendar.
“She has an excellent team that she connects with for various aspects that are needed to make a website fully functional for our ever changing online world. From a copywriter to the legal aspects and background work making the website not just beautiful but fully functional and up to date. I highly recommend Claire you will not regret it.”
